Casual Weekend evening

I didn’t do anything too exciting this weekend, but as usual, I found myself in the quandry of finding something to wear that would work for just about any occasion and would be warm enough to keep me from freezing all night long.  Though this outfit didn’t exactly get my pulse racing, it did fit the bill.  The dark skinny jeans are versatile and make for a good building block.  The striped top had me stumped at first because I’m always drawn to stripes, but I’m constantly haunted by the voices of all those fashion critics who scream at us not to wear horizontal stripes unless we look like Kate Moss.  This top originally had a much higher crew neck.  Since I have a large chest, this look doesn’t usually work too well on me.  I solved the problem by carefully cutting the neck into a scoop.  This opens up the neckline and generally flatters a larger chest.  One problem solved, but I still had the horizontal stripe issue.  I decided that the best way to break up all those lines was to add a little fitted jacket.  The jacket added some needed interest to the outfit and it kept me warm!  Double bonus.  Last, but maybe most importantly, the red heels were the icing on the sartorial cake.  A nice high, bright pair of heels always elevates a look.  I didn’t name this blog ”Shiny Little Things” for nothing.
