I’ve mentioned the floral print trend on this site before and I’m sure you’ve noticed that Spring has sprung, quite literally, in all of the shops. I found this little beauty at the ever reliable Forever 21. Since the weather was still rainy and slightly chilly on this particular day, the floral pattern did a lot to lift my mood. The tights, boots and military-inspired jacket were key to keeping me warm. This is also the photo debut of my new patchwork leather bag. I got it at Urban Outfitters and the first time I brought it out, my mom commented that she had one just like it in the 70s. I love that!

I didn’t know what to think about these Balenciaga shoes when I first noticed them in a magazine editorial some time ago. Actually, the voice in my head said something like “those crazy kids. What will they come up with next?” and then I sort of forgot about them because I didnt’ expect that the masses would actually be interested in wearing something like this:

But lo and behold, Steve Madden has actually ripped these suckers off! I am salivating in anticipation of the first time I see a civilian working these things.

I will eat my hat if I see someone rocking these and making them really work. I will admit that they look marginally better in the black, brown or white variations. I sort of have a love/hate relationship with those.

If there are any psychologists out there, could you tell me whether you know of any psychological disorder in which the sufferer is continuously drawn to ugly shoes and feels as if it’s her life’s duty to wear them and strive to make them look good? I think I have that…

Isn’t it funny that something like the zipper can be having a real fashion moment? This season, you can find zippers on nearly everything. I mean did you see the wine glass above? That isn’t a joke! The Christian Louboutin sandals are probably my favorite iteration. A really fresh and easy way to wear this look is on a dress or top in which the zipper is just exposed rather than covered by a strip of fabric as it traditionally would be. Another good look, for those who aren’t afraid to revisit their pasts, is the zip at the bottom of a skinny jean. I love the look of just an inch or two of unzipped bottom over the top of a sexy high heel.

Color blocking is a pretty big trend this Spring. You can find it used on dresses, tops and bags in all kinds of color combinations. The most modern take on this idea involves combing ultra-brights and neutrals (think taupe). This is unexpected and looks quite nice however, if you want a piece that will withstand the trendiness of these color combinations, why not find a piece that uses a more classic color palate for the color blocking and then add some unexpected colors by way of accessories?
The dress, earrings, bag, and bracelet are all from Forever 21. The wedges are Christion Louboutin.

This makes me want to go to a party. All of these items can be purchased on Forever 21’s website. I just felt like playing with color a little…

Really Fergie? I don’t know about this…
To me, this is kind of the fashion equivalent of a Mullet. Business on the top, party on the bottom.
And, for your viewing pleasure:

I bet you thought I just posted this picture for you to drool over. No no, I have a legitimate reason. Actor James Franco has been tapped to be the face of the men’s fragrance version of Gucci by Gucci. Ads will be out this Fall.
In other news, I’m starting to think that my boyfriend would smell really great in Gucci cologne…

OMG! These skirts are so cute. Can you believe she made them herself? Camille, from childhood flames, posted about these skirts a couple of weeks ago and she even included a how-to with great photos and instructions. I never learned to sew, but she makes it look pretty easy and I’m thinking I might give it a try. I’m sure some of you are much more crafty than I so, click on the link below to learn about making these skirts. If any of you makes one of these, please send me a photo of your work

Have you ever, say, talked to someone who just bought a new car and they tell you the make and model and its one you’ve never heard of or noticed before, but as soon as they tell you about it, you start seeing them EVERYWHERE you go? Well, that was the case with me and these woven leather bags. I first noticed the Cole Haan one, which is the center bag in the photo, in an ad in some magazine and I thought it looked really cool. Then, I started seeing these all over the place. I was at the mall this weekend, I literally felt like someone was playing a joke on me because they were all over. The great thing is that the new Gryson handbag line at Target is loaded with cool iterations on this trend. The white bag on the top right and the green one on the bottom right are both from the line.
