When I first saw these sunglasses by Martin Margiela, I thought they were cool and witty. No surprise coming from a smart label like Margiela. I love how they remind you of the black bars that fashion magazines put over the eyes of the fashion disasters.
As soon as I saw them, I thought of these
The shutter shades that Kanye has been wearing for awhile now. I told my boyfriend that I thought Kanye might be the first to switch up his style by wearing the Margielas.
It looks like I was close, but Pharell beat him to the punch. Check out this video. It’s the Everybody Nose Remix from NERD, and it features everyone and their mom. Kanye is in it. I was happy to see Pusha from the Clipse too. Pharell wears the glasses and he looks good doing it. Enjoy!
I love that leather is so big for the fall/winter. It’s so much fun because it kind of reminds me of the over-the-top looks from the 80s and 90s, but it’s done in a fresh way.
Remember that movie Can’t Buy Me Love where Patrick Dempsey, who was the hottest geek, was in love with the popular girl, and he pays her to make him cool and they inevitably fall in love? If you’ve forgotten, check out the trailer. It’ll bring it all back to you.
Awesome right?! Well, if you’ll remember, Cindi wore a white suede, super expensive outfit that she’d secretly borrowed from her mother for a big party and then some dumb jock made her spill red wine all over it. That was how she got herself in the fix of needing Dempsey’s money in the first place. When I was a kid, that outfit seemed like the hottest, most luxurious thing ever. I couldn’t wait until I was old enough to don leather from head to toe. Well, now that I’m grown, I think I’d rather do it like Emmy Rossum did.
She looks pretty cool in all leather. This dress is from a label that I didn’t know existed. Apparently Paige Premium Denim has started a Black Label that is more “edgy, but sophisticated” and ranges from $230-1000. The line became available in stores this month. I guess I missed that news flash.
Hi Mary Kate. Love you, as always, but… Are you wearing a hugely over-sized plaid shirt as a dress? You can pull off almost anything, but well, isn’t this just kind of lazy? Also, do you feel a little naked? I mean, that thing is huge and all, but don’t you feel kind of like a gust of wind might show off your butt cheaks?
Ok, one last thing. Do you think that maybe you’re looking a little too much like Eddie Vedder these days?
I love Pearl Jam too, I just don’t think of Eddie Vedder as my own personal style icon.
This is not a blog about cars and I am not a gearhead, but I am mildly obsessed with the Dodge Challenger. It’s so hot! If I could buy any car I wanted right now, I would buy this:
Seriously! It’s like having a classic American muscle car without having to constantly worry about it breaking down everywhere you go, or your feet crashing through the rusted out floor Flinstones-style! I am in L-O-V-E.
Charlize Theron poses in a lace Prada dress alongside Will Smith at the premier of Hancock in Japan. Lace is a big trend for the upcoming Fall season. Prada used it a lot for Fall/Winter, and we’re seeing it show up on numerous items from tights to tops.
Here are some of my picks for adding a little lace to your look:
A lace covered ankle boot by Nine West.
Kova and T lace leggings. I would probably wear these with a dress or skirt and knee-high boots.
Or, if you just want a small dose, how about a belt?
Remember these lovelies that stomped down the runway on several of Gucci’s models during their Fall/Winter 2008 shows?
Yeah well, I knew it was only a matter of time before someone did a decent knock-off of these things. I just didn’t think that someone would be Bebe.
And yet, here they are. To be fair, the Bebe pair has a heel (it is Bebe people) and I’m not sure that they are over-the-knee like the Gucci pair, but they’re obviously at least inspired by Gucci. At $298 they’re still hundreds less than the Guccis.
I’ve been obsessing about little leather jackets and a pair of crazy cool heeled booties from Report Signature. Imagine my surprise when I came across this photo (obviously older pic since she’s about to burst with the biggest child ever right now) of Gwen rocking both styles together!
Now, let’s see what we can do with this look:
This is a pretty good photo of the Report Shoes I was talking about. You can get them at Zappos or Endless. I showed a Luella t-shirt with a graphic because it seemed more interesting and more current than the plain white T. Also, I showed the leggings because that’s the way Gwen styled the outfit in the photo, but I wanted to show the ombre black to gray jeans because I think this is a cool way to make this look unique and updated. These pants are actually from Wet Seal! I threw in a little bit of an edge with the metal jewelry to finish the look.
This photo of Agy inspires me to experiment more with mixing patterns. I think she does a great job of it here. The key is to use one bold print and another more subtle print. It helps, of course, if the color palette is complimentary.
